Nightwalker
Nightwalker (Dark Days, Book 1)
Dawnbreaker
by Jocelynn Drake
I have read the first two in this set, and I love her writing style. She leaves ya wanting more!! Very unique vampire series.
For centuries Mira has been a nightwalker—an unstoppable enforcer for a mysterious organization that manipulates earth-shaking events from the darkest shadows. But elemental mastery over fire sets her apart from others of her night-prowling breed . . . and may be all that prevents her doom.
The foe she now faces is human: the vampire hunter called Danaus, who has already destroyed so many undead. For Mira, the time has come to hunt . . . or be hunted.

1 cup raisins
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2.In a large bowl, cream together the butter, butter flavored shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; stir into the sugar mixture. Stir in the oats and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3.Bake 10 to 12 minutes until light and golden. Do not overbake. Let them cool for 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheets to cool completely. Store in airtight container. Make sure you get some, because they don't last long!
Money Saving tip: JR Watkins Double Strength Vanilla can be cut in half in recipes because it is double
strength. So if the recipe calls for 1 tsp. you would only need to use a 1/2 tsp.

Tylenol, Rolaids, Motrin Recall
The following is the press release.
CONSUMER INQUIRIES:
1-888-222-6036 (Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST, and Sat-Sun 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST)
MCNEIL CONSUMER HEALTHCARE ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY RECALL OF CERTAIN OVER-THE-COUNTER (OTC) PRODUCTS IN THE AMERICAS, UAE, AND FIJI
Fort Washington, PA (January 15, 2010) In consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., is voluntarily recalling certain lots of OTC products in the Americas, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Fiji (FULL RECALLED PRODUCT LIST BELOW). The company is initiating this recall following an investigation of consumer reports of an unusual moldy, musty, or mildew-like odor that, in a small number of cases, was associated with temporary and non-serious gastrointestinal events. These include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, or diarrhea. This precautionary action is voluntary and has been taken in consultation with the FDA.
Based on this investigation, McNeil Consumer Healthcare has determined that the reported uncharacteristic smell is caused by the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). This can result from the breakdown of a chemical that is sometimes applied to wood that is used to build wood pallets that transport and store product packaging materials. The health effects of this chemical have not been well studied but no serious events have been documented in the medical literature. A small number of the product lots being recalled were associated with the complaints of an unusual moldy, musty, or mildew-like odor, and some of these lots were found to contain trace amounts of TBA. In December 2009, McNeil Consumer Healthcare also recalled all lots of TYLENOL® Arthritis Pain 100 count with EZ-OPEN CAP related to this issue. McNeil Consumer Healthcare has now applied broader criteria to identify and remove all product lots that it believes may have the potential to be affected, even if they have not been the subject of consumer complaints.
In addition to the product recall, McNeil Consumer Healthcare is continuing their investigation into this issue and is taking further actions that include ceasing shipment of products produced using materials shipped on these wood pallets and requiring suppliers who ship materials to our plants to discontinue the use of these pallets. We will continue to closely monitor and evaluate the situation and consult with the FDA.
Consumers who purchased product from the lots included in this recall should stop using the product and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare for instructions on a refund or replacement. For these instructions or information regarding how to return or dispose of the product, consumers should log on to the internet at www.mcneilproductrecall.com or call 1-888-222-6036 (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time, and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time). Consumers who have medical concerns or questions should contact their healthcare provider. Any adverse reactions may also be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Program by fax at 1-800-FDA-0178, by mail at MedWatch, FDA, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787, or on the MedWatch website at www.fda.gov/medwatch.
The affected product lot numbers for the recalled products can be found on the side of the bottle label.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc. markets a broad range of well-known and trusted over-the-counter (OTC) products.

Fix, Freeze, Feast: Prepare in Bulk and Enjoy by the Serving
Millions of shoppers save money buying groceries in bulk — trays of boneless chicken breasts, pairs of flank steaks, and flats of ripe tomatoes. But savings can quickly become losses if those bulk quantities spoil in the refrigerator or lie forgotten — unlabeled and unrecognizable under layers of ice crystals — in the back of the freezer.
Kati Neville and Lindsay Tkacsik have built businesses teaching home cooks how to take advantage of bulk savings by shopping wisely; converting food purchases into delicious, healthful family dinners; and labeling and storing the meals for easy access on busy days. They share all their best recipes and organizational wisdom in Fix, Freeze, Feast: Prepare in Bulk and Enjoy by the Serving - More than 125 Recipes
Each recipe includes instructions for dividing, preparing, and storing the raw ingredients, and a second set of simple directions for thawing, cooking, and enjoying the food. Designed for the way people cook today, Fix, Freeze, Feast meals are lighter and fresher than traditional bulk-cooking recipes, with a focus on simple stews and stir-fries, quick grilled or broiled main courses, and popular ethnic meals such as Beef Fajitas and Cashew Chicken Stir-fry.
Add to the entrées ready-to-bake cookie doughs, warming soups and side dishes, fruit smoothies, and portable kids' snacks, and those warehouse club shopping trips begin to look more valuable than ever. This is a system that saves time, saves money, and saves families from the empty calories of takeout food. Make room in the freezer for next week's dinner!

Coupon Queen Wannabe
I went from spending on average $800 a month to today approx. $400. That is a $400 savings a month!
Do I consider myself a “coupon queen”? Absolutely not as I still have plenty I need to learn! But I do consider myself a “coupon queen wannabe”. That statement in itself makes me try harder, and learn more. It is almost a game to me, a challenge, to see how much more I can save and how much I can obtain for free!!
Don't use coupons? Stop and think about it. I know for most it is a blow to your ego or a pride issue to use those little pieces of paper. You want people to think you are successful and don't need to worry about saving $.50 cents. You would rather live above your means and pretend like you have all the money in the world. Or maybe they just takes to long to clip and file those pesky things. To loyal to a brand is another reason people won't use coupons.
Well here is my 2 cents! (Be sure to Save it!!)
GET OVER IT!
Okay, I know most of you won't listen to me just saying get over it, but I hope the following information changes your minds.
Here is a small list of reasons:
1) It's FREE money........yes Coupons are free and they save you money.
2) In today's economy Coupon use has doubled and I for one believe that using coupons is not associated with "poor" people, but rather "smart responsible" people.
3) They are abundant and easy to find. Look in your Sunday newspaper or print them on-line, in magazines, at the grocery store, they are everywhere.
Clipping coupons, does not really take that much time, you can file entire coupon inserts and clip as you need them only. There are plenty of sites on-line that will even tell you what coupon insert from what date had the specific coupon in, so just write the date on the front cover of the coupon insert, and pull it out when there is a great sale!
Quick and easy.
With a little bit of effort and time, you can save $100's of dollars a month off your grocery bills! Who couldn't use a little extra cash.
I'm not talking about saving just $.50 here. On my very first shopping trip, armed with sale ads and coupons I saved $71.00 with coupons and in store specials. Would you rather pay $3.00 for that tube of toothpaste or get it free? Yes I said free, and it is very do-able, with a bit of attention paid to store sales and coupons.
Here is an example:
Your store toothpaste on sale 2 for $3.00 which in turn makes them $1.50
each, you have a .75 cent coupon. Most grocery store chains double coupons, so that .75
cent coupon now becomes $1.50, thus making the toothpaste free.
Another example:
The drugstore has razors on sale buy one get one free (bogo). The cost of each razor is $8.99, you have $4.00 off 1 coupons. You may use two coupons, because you are purchasing two, even though one is "free". So if you have 2 $4.00 coupons, you now have taken $8.00 off the one razor you are paying for, getting it for .99 cents + tax in most areas, and getting the other completely free.
So what sounds better to you? $8.99 or .99?
If you can afford to do so, it is best to get as many coupons / Sunday newspapers as you can and or purchase good coupons on ebay ect., and stockpile stuff when you can get it for very reasonable or free, in the end you will save a ton of money that you could be paying off credit card bills with or tossing it into a savings account, instead of feeding it to the grocery store chain.

Coupons - Where to Start

Coupons are everywhere. You just need to learn to find them. The main source of coupons is the Sunday Newspaper. You can subscribe at a discount at Discounted Newspapers. You can also visit TaylorTown Preview to find out which inserts will be available for the week.
Note: Redplum inserts are now being mailed via postal mail in many areas.
Other places to find coupons include:
In Packages/Out of Packages - Be sure to check inside and out, there may be coupons lurking about.
I have found coupons for free dog treats in bags of dog food ect.
Magazines - Many magazines have coupons in them scattered throughout the magazine. All You magazine can have upwards to $50 in coupons or more!. You will also find them in other womens magazines as well as general interest mags. Later on I will let you know how you can obtain some of these subscriptions absolutely free.
NOTE: All you has exclusive online printables available.
US Mail - When you sign up for samples, newsletters for a product, many times they will send up a coupon with it.
In Store Brochures – Always check the store brochures
Doctor’s / Dentist Office – Doctors offices are a good place for coupons and samples.
Newspapers - Besides coupon inserts, check the actual pages of the paper as well as the magazine inserts. Sometimes you can also find coupons during the week in the actual pages.
Blinkies – Those little coupon dispensers in the isles that blink, on the shelves near products!
Tearpads – The coupons you can tear off pads, near products.
Peelies – Sometimes you will get lucky and there will already be a coupon on the product.
Product Testing Sites – I have minimal experience with these sites, however you can get free items and coupons. One example is General Mills.
Recycle Centers - Always ask first if it is okay as there may be local ordinances against it.
Buy Insert Coupons Online - You can purchase already clipped coupons on Ebay or other internet sources. You pay them for the time to clip them/sort them/mail them and not for the actual coupon.
Coupon Trains - Coupon trains are a way to trade all those coupons you can't use for coupons that you need. The person who starts the train gathers up $100 or more worth of coupons that they are not going to use, and posts on a forum that she is starting a new train, and needs riders. The members who want to join send her a PM with their name, address, and any "wish list" they might have.
This also works well with friends and family who live out of the area.
The leader types up a sheet with all that info, and mails it to the first person on the list. That person takes out whatever coupons she wants, plus any that have expired or are about to, and replaces them with new ones of equal value. Then she mails it to the next person on list. It continues on until it circles back to the leader, and starts over again.
Some trains are better than others. A good train has members that follow some simple rules:
1. Don't put in a bunch of coupons nearing their expiration date.
2. Don't load the train with duplicates.
3. Pay attention to other people wish lists and try to put in coupons that they can use.
4. Be quick about getting the train in the mail to the next person.
Library – If your local library doesn't have a coupon swap box, ask if you can place one there.
My library for example has tables in the main lobby, with misc stuff such as business cards and
brochures ect.
Friends & Family – Ask friends and family if they use their coupons, or if they can give you
the inserts when they are finished with it.
Dumpsters – Yes people do this, I would recommend checking your local ordinances and laws, because it is against the law in a lot of area's but most businesses only need the tops off the papers for credit, and throw the actual newspapers in the trash. Not something I would do personally, but it is done.
Writing to Companies – You can write to your favorite manufacturers and praise their products, and even complain if you are not happy, and a lot of times they will send you money off coupons,as well as free vouchers for products.
Printable Coupon Sources
You can find coupons at plenty of product sites (ex. Aquafresh.com) as well as some of these below.
Also check your grocery stores websites as well as discount stores ex. Walmart.com
These are just some, but please note, there are sites out there that are not legit and the coupons are conterfit.
Coupons.com – Coupons here reset each month!
Betty Crocker
Box Tops for Education
Eat Better America Coupons
Pillsbury
Red Plum
Smart Source
Coolsavings.com
Upromise - Electronic coupons loaded on your store card, no clipping required
Word of Mouth Market Companies – There are some great companies out there that will send your free full and sample size items as well as coupons for free products and high value coupons, I will cover more of these companies later but one of the easier ones to deal with is vocalpoint.com.
Coupon Clipping Services – You can find these online, some people swear by them. You pay a small fee and order what coupons you need, already clipped and sent directly to your door.

The Importance of Eating a Healthy Breakfast

The Importance of Eating a Healthy Breakfast
Eating a healthy breakfast does make a difference.
It improves your overall health and well-being.
People who skip breakfast have slower reaction time and are more accident-prone. School children who skip breakfast are more disruptive in the classroom as well as have decreased ability to concentrate and solve problems.
Eating a healthy breakfast has a great many benifits. It reduces fatique, helps banish the blues, improves concentration, alertness and more.
A great way to start your day!
Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children’s diets.
Other cereal benefits:
Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children’s diets.
Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child’s diet today.
More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.
Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.
I have a very difficult time getting my children to eat breakfast, however thanks to General Mills for providing coupons through MyBlogSpark, I have managed to get my children to enjoy eating breakfast.
General Mills announced a public commitment to reduce sugar in cereals advertised to children to the single-digit grams of sugar per serving.
So send your children off to school with a healthy start in the morning.
Head on over here and print some coupons!!
